PERFORMANCE SOLUTIONS
We enable teams to improve cross-discipline integration and create sustainable performance systems.
We help leaders understand practices that contribute to team and individual performance and provide foundations for future growth and agile development.
COMPLEX not COMPLICATED
Performance solutions is a simple concept that places individual and team performance at the centre of every interaction. Having worked with many athletes, coaches and support teams over the past 20 years, I am always fascinated by how different factors can combine to create examples of excellence. That is why we use a process that appreciates the complex integration of different factors in an unpredictable and challenging environment while at the same time maximising practical application.
MAXIMISE COGNITIVE DIVERSITY
Improving how individuals think about and engage with new, uncertain, and complex situations can help uncover performance solutions. A 2018 Deloitte report by Bourke and Dillon1 highlighted that diversity of thinking enhances innovation by 20% and enables groups to spot potential risks and reduce them by up to 30%. Matthew Syed’s excellent book Rebel Ideas2 further emphasises the power of diverse thinking and effective team working. As Reynolds and Lewis stated in their 2017 Harvard Business Review article3, ‘Teams work better when they’re more cognitively diverse’.
An important part of performance solutions is the One Smart World 4D-i® system which helps individuals and teams better understand their preferred thinking styles and cognitive diversity. Developed by a team of organisational psychologists, the 4D-i® maps personal preferences and teaches 11 thinking strategies and 7 emotional strategies in creativity, understanding and decision-making as well as 3 strategies in resilient personal spirit.
THE PROCESS
Using a dialogic approach, we take time to really understand the performance challenge from as many perspectives as possible. Often we will look to domains such as sport, business, the arts or healthcare for inspiration and incorporate wisdom from diverse backgrounds. Putting together a comprehensive performance plan we work in partnership with clients to develop a robust system that shapes the environment, grows individuals and facilitates effective team working.
